Laughter
When someone you love is sick it is hard to laugh. Congestive Heart Failure is not funny.
We did not laugh for a very long time it seemed and we both missed it very much. It is hard to find anything funny, but when you can it is a wonderful release of stress and energy. I understand that when a person laughs it releases certain chemicals in the brain and fight depression. Sherman and I look for things that are funny so we can laugh. We have a dachsund and she can make us laugh so hard at times. We get a real kick out of watching her chase squirrels in the back yard. She barks and runs so fast sometimes she can’t make the turn at the corner of the fence and when she tumbles head over heals….yes we laugh….We laugh at ourselves and eachother. We have been married long enough to be able to find the funny in both of us.
Other outlets for us are things like the Comedy channel and funny movies. I know that when we laugh we are using ALL of our muscles. Sometimes we laugh so hard our stomach muscles will ache and tears will run down our faces. For me there is no greater joy than a good hard laugh.
So, if you are down give your heart, body and mind a wonderful workout with LAUGHTER….
Until next time, enjoy the beauty in God’s creation and remember…Life is a journey, so laugh a little!
Sincerely,
Heidi
