  • Honey-some uses not thought of.

There are several uses for honey I never thought of. My “Grandaddy” raised peaches and apples. To pollinate the trees he kept bees. I have been interested in Honey and its uses lately-perhaps I am remembering him, perhaps it is my interest based on my congestive heart failure, perhaps I am just looking for a sweet alternative to processed sugar.

There should be this caution though, one tbsp. of honey has 64 calories as compared to 46 calories in one tbsp. of granulated sugar. So if your doctor has warned about weight, and you are watching calories remember honey is more caloric than processed sugar.

For a Honey Bath, put 2oz. of honey and 5 drops of lavender oil in a glass. If the honey is too thick, I found the best way to heat it is by placing the glass in a bowl, or pan of warm water. (The microwave may be faster, but could prove messy). Stir this mixture and place 1 to 2 tbsp. in your bath water. This will help you to relax and it may help you sleep better.
