  • Parsley is a good food, not just a plate decorator

I am always amazed at the things I learn in my quest to pass on the aids for a healthy heart. I had no idea that Parsley was good for anything other than adding a color to a plate of food in a restaurant. I only missed what others have known for over 2000 years. I don’t feel too bad though, until my diagnosis with CHF I did not pay much attention to what I ate as long as I had enough.

Parsley has a great many uses. Roots and seeds are used as a soothing diuretic for those with kidney problems, in addition parsley is used to strengthen the digestive system and it helps alleviate liver problems. Parsley leaves are full of good vitamins and minerals, including iron, potassium and vitamin C.

In medieval times a parsley wine was used to improve circulation and help heart conditions.

And I hope all my friends at technorati are using this tool as well.

to make parsley wine combine 10 or 12 large stalks of parsley with 1 quart of red or white wine and 2 tbsp of white wine vinegar. Boil this mixture for 10 minutes then add 9 oz. of honey and strain this mixture into bottles. The prescribed dosage is 1 tbsp 3 times a day. Check with your doctor before trying this …if you, like me, are allergic to alcohol you may need to boil a bit longer to remove the alcohol from the mix. This bit of info came to me in a handout from a friend, I hope it adds to your life as it has mine.

Set reasonable goals and work a bit each day to reach them.

I don’t know if My husband’s Grandmother was aware of this or not, but she would put a handful of freash parsley in nearly everything….she even used it in her chicken and dressing for Holidays..she would chop up a bunch of veggies, like green peppers, onion, celery, green onions, garlic, and a whole bunch of fresh parsley,,cook it down a bit in olive oil and add it to her dressing mixture….everyone loved it and didn’t realize they were eating all those veggies. LOL
