    There have been many attempts to get healthy at our house. The result has been some of the most elaborate and bulky towel racks, coat hangers and room decor you could imagine. The big disappointment was that no matter how many times atowel was lifted or a coat moved the weight loss was not there.

    I am now learning why. First I did not use the machine for its intended purpose, second I was impatient.

    The body must move a certain length of time before the cardiovascular fat burning takes place. I learned yesterday, from a doctor at my VA clinic, the liver does not do what it needs to do for about 20 minutes. So the 30 minute workout I have been doing is only yielding about 10 minutes of cardio work. The 10 minutes is better than none, I just need to work longer. He also reaffirmed my thought that the work should be low weight and more reps, and more time rather than more speed. That was his recommendation for me.
