  • Rowing Tips-I Learned from Others

I have been writing about the Heart Health Rowing  routine. The first thing is to (With Your Doctor’s Recommendation) try the exercise, don’t worry too much about the kind of machine. Ask others in the facility why they row, how they row, and what machine is the favorite for them.

After asking and getting some idea about the purpose and results of making rowing part of the routine, try the exercise (Again-Check with your doctor first-he can determine if rowing is an acceptable activity for you). When you  approach the machine it is a good idea to have a trainer or staff member show you te proper way  to  adjust the machine and the monitor to get the results, and track the results you want.

Some of the things I was advised to watch for are about comfort, but others are results oriented. The seat should be comfortable. The body can endure what the backside will endure. In addition some exercise causes enoug pain, it may be well to reduse the level of discomfort when we can.

The slide should be smooth . The actionis much smoother, quiter, and steady.

The grips should be comfortable and easy to hold. It does little, or no good to “drop the oar” while rowing. That would eliminate the uper body benefits of rowing.

The machine should allow the user to maintain the proper rowing position. Taller and shorter users need to be sure the machine will “adjust to fit”. Rowing is considered a low impact exercise; and, most injury from rowing occurs in our lower back. Proper technique is extremely important. It is suggested that a staff member or trainer be consulted the first time or two we use any machine, especially rowers.

Rowing machines have been around for over 100 years, and much has been learned of their benefit. My own experience has been very good, and I hope you enjoy the wellness, and Heart Health Benefit of exercise, including the cardiovascular and strength bulding benefits of rowing machines.
