What is LDL Cholesterol
Low density lipoprotein is the major cholesterol carrier in our blood. This carrier can build up blockages in the main arteries to our heart and brain when we have too much LDL-cholesterol. When the excess occurs, the LDL-cholesterol will combine with other substances and become plaque.
Plaque is a hard substance, and its build-up is an indication of higher risk for heart disease and stroke, that is why LDL-cholesterol is often referred to ad cholesterol. The test for cholesterol is a simple blood test. I would recommend that everyone get a complete physical complete with blood testing at least one time a year. Check with your healthcare professional and be a healthier person today.
Your LDL-cholesterol level will fall int one of these three catagories:
less than 130 mg/dl — is desirable
130-159/dl — is borderline high
160mg/dl and over — is high
