Diet—Some Choices…..
Thre are certain things we should not have to do without! Like butter—bad for the cholesterol level so the story goes—my choice for a replacement is Smart Balance Light. Paul Harvey recommends it, I tried it and I liked it as well as butter. There is a whole line of Smart Balance Products..they say Smart Balance is ”A Patented Blend to Help Improve Cholesterol”.
There are other choices I make on a daily basis to help improve my healthy heart diet. I do not want anyone to think that I believe I am perfect—I don’t, and I’m not. I am simply making some different selections at the grocery store… and at the table…… some of the changes are very simple.
Ice cream is out and low-fat or non-fat yogurts are in. Ground beef is not for us, we eat ground round or sirloin (Some grocery stores mark plainly the fat content of ground, others are not plainly marked, but it should be there.) When I want a snack at night I go to the freezer and grab some frozen grapes, I like the black grapes the best but red are good too. The green don’t spoil, but the color changes to a not so pleasant appearance.
These choices are very small and may not seem to be much at all; but, they will add up. Some others I want to mention are choosing fresh fruit and vegetables rather than canned, or the lite syrup….. rather than heavy syrup. Get a load of this one, no more regular potato chips …just baked ones. I do not remember baked potato chips when I was growing up. I hope you are getting the idea, when I make a few simple choice changes then the get healthy program does not overwhelm me with the ”I did it all wrong for so long syndrome”. For me it has been easier to make a few choice changes at a time rather than do the whole diet swap in one swoop. How do we eat an elephant…..one bite at a time.
I hope this suggestion makes it easier to change your diet….. and easier for you to become a HealthyHeartFolk. We thank you for reading our blog, and trying sme of the products we link to, and please come back soon.
