  • Happy Birthday Marines—and Thank You— SEMPER FI

I am a Marine. I know that the reason I joined the United States Marine Corps is to be involved in the fight for freedom. I took an oath in 1967 to uphold the constitution and to defend this country from any foe that would take away the freedom of our citizens. That oath means as much to me today as it did then. So if you are a Marine…Happy Birthday…if not…

No matter what your opinion is—I will do all that I can to insure your right to have it. No matter what is the reason for a war—I am ready to accept the order and follow the call of the Commander in Cheif…his political party won’t cause me to avoid the responsibility.  No matter how offensive the words of my fellow citizens are to me, I will defend the right they have to say them.

I am very happy to be in the United States of America, the “land of the free”, where I can get up at the crack of dawn, write an article to share my thoughts and not worry that I might be censored. I am proud to have been given the opportunity to be part of the Marine Corps and gain some values and beliefs that help me to censor myself. My only censorship is that of my respect for others, my value of life (yours and mine), and my desire for all of us to have the ability to be free. With these rights comes a great deal of responsibility.

I am responsible to respect the rights of others, I am responsible to allow others to have the same rights as I have, and want, for myself. I am responsible, when it is in my power, to preserve these rights for all to enjoy, and I am responsible to help others to enjoy these same freedoms so long as they do it responsibly. When you read this article please remember—the reason we can enjoy this privledge is because some gave their lives, some were and are willing to give their lives, and all who served, or do serve, in any capacity to aid in the defense of our freedom, did so in spite of the cost and sacrifice to defend our rights.

Pleasae, when you see a veteran say two words— THANK YOU—they will mean a lot.

I thank you for taking time to read this article, and for being part of  HealthyHeartFolks—growing stronger together by sharing our experience and recovery…heart disease is not pleasant at all, but I am glad to have the right and privledge to heal.
