  • The Holidays are Upon Us-HO! HO! HO! or STRESS! STRESS! STRESS!

This is family time, when we are all supposed to get in the same direction and pull together. If their are two workers in the family and they work for different companies,—there is pressure to be at two holiday parties (maybe scheduled for the same night). If you’re the boss, what is the proper bonus, can I give one, if I can’t— how do I tell the employees? How many employees will stay with me with no bonus— how many are staying anyway?

“Tis the season.”I do believe this is the time of year when there is more activity than the rest of the year all combined. There is more pressure to give, more pressure to achieve, unless you are in retail— business is slow, if you are in retail— the majority of your profit for the year is made between now and the first of the year. Gas prices are soaring—businesses are cutting hours—where does it all end?

WITH ME!—only I can change Me! I may not need a total makeover… but, I do need to adjust my thinking. I really don’t knowhow many of us HealthyHeartFolks get stressedover things out of our control. Or how large a number of us gets so wrapped up in the daily grind that we are not so observant of today: and, the importance of this one single day gets lost in the tangled web that lies in our corner of this life. I do know that when I  get in that state of mind…my blood pressure rises, my heart rate increases, my face gets flush, my mind gets confused, I forget things (which adds to the confusion and frustration), I get angry (sometimes more angry than I realize), and last but certainly not least…I get disapointed in myself for allowing all of this to happen. I get fearful that I will not meet the mark (they won’t like me if this happens—whoever they are), I will meet the mark and they will then expect more of me (then I will fail), or I fear that what I do will not be enough and it will all be gone (whatever it is). If you have not had at least one of these thoughts—how did you get so numb?

What is the answer? Each of us must find a way to Conquer Anxiety. I do know that stress and anxiety are very much attached at the hip. The medical community knows that stress and anxiety are related to heart disease, just not how much— or how often, or how…but, they are working on the answer. In the mean time we need to learn how to relieve the pressure or we may just hurt ourselves more than we already have.

Take a look at the links above, we hope the program we have chosen for ourselves will help many of our other HealthyHeartFolks to have a more relaxed and joyous season ahead. It is helping here!

Thank you for reading, and please come back often.
