About Rowing Machines
Rowing machines can be man's best friend, or worst enemy. I hope this will help others understand the rowing machine and how it works to make a healthy heart. First let's look at the machine and the mechanics of it.The base or backbone of the machine is the slide. This is the part that allows the user to move and use his entire body to simulate the action of rowing a boat. The seat rests upon the slide and is attached so that it can move freely forward and back. The handles allow the user to grip with both hands. Some machines have two handles, some have one. The handles allow the user to simulate the rowing action of the hands, arms, shoulders, back, and entire upper body. Near the end of the slide are foot pegs, or foot rests. These are fixed so that the feet are on the same level and line, this gives the rower a platform to push using the muscles of the legs and lower body. This basic design is found in all rowing machines no mater what the modifications are. These machine parts allow for a complete full body workout. It is said that the rowing machine is one machine that allows the user to work on the entire body in one workout -session after session. That means that rowing would be the ideal rehab tool for a person like me. I need to work my body into better condition. Not just concentrated parts, like abs or lats-the entire body will benefit from rowing.
So with the decision made to row, what type of machine to use? What are the things to consider? Do I ust go buy one? Where can I try different brands? Are there substitutes for rowing machines that will give me the same advantages of a rowing machine?
